(no subject)

So I have acquired 5 brand-new bookcases to fill with books. Bliss! However, after I relocated 2 bookcases' worth of books to my office, I was left with... three empty shelves in my home library. This is bordering on sacrilege, so I'm constantly on the lookout for books to fill the emptiness. I just placed a 155$ two-volume set into my Amazon wishlist, but I do not have money, so I'm just going to check it from the library.

And what is it?

The secret history of the Mongols : a Mongolian epic chronicle of the thirteenth century, translated with a historical and philological commentary by Igor de Rachewiltz.

Excuse me while I drool.

ETA: this book is amazing. I need my own copy.

OH! I am jealous, empty bookshelves?

Yes, I know! but only three shelves out of the total of 30 (in five bookcases). I was cautious and stacked some books horizontally to save space, so now I can actually have guilt-free trips to the bookstore. :D This won't last.

*green with jealousy*

That's why I'm broke now :P

...I'm reading that right now.

(I don't own it, but my library does. I am enjoying it immensely, though there's a lot I don't quite understand because I lack the necessary historical and cultural context. I will probably read it again after doing some background reading in secondary sources.)

Lol, sacrilege indeed!! But I bet that after a while you'll wish for a little of that sacrilege again :P And, yes, I can totally understand the drooling.

But but but if you fill the three empty bookshelves now, there won't be room for books in the future!

There's always double-stacking!

I happened to find the poem about the Merry-go-round horse. I loved it. The trail led from [livejournal.com profile] elva_undine through Goblin Fruit Winter 2009, in case curiosity compells to know wherefor and why.
I hope you don't mind my boldness in adding you to my Friends (?)
